My Top 5 Blackpink Songs

Blackpink is a South Korean girl group under YG Entertainment consisting of Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, & Lisa. Currently, they are the most followed girl group on Spotify as well as the most subscribed music group, female act and Kpop act on Youtube. Here are my top 5 favorite songs from the group:

5. Whistle

Who could forget the iconic "make 'em whistle like a missile bomb bomb"? I love how the whistling sound is cleverly incorporated into the hiphop mix and guitar riffs. And all the members got to show off their rap and vocal skills. I mean c'mon this debut definitely cemented Jennie's position as one of the best female rapper of this generation.

4. Kiss & Make Up

I can honestly say that this song has to be one of the most successful collab of an American artist and Kpop group. Dua Lipa's signature party break up song fits perfectly with Blackpink's girl crush concept. 

3. Kick It

This song sure has title track vibe to it ugh!!! That bridge is a surefire bomb and the progression of each segment of the song is really cool. I love how the clapping sound and guitar riffs at the pre chorus progress up and drops with the bass heavy chorus. This is actually one of the few songs that the girls really get to show off their vocals. They deserve to have more songs with full chorus. The song sure is perfect for Coachella.

2. Don't Know What to Do

Honestly, this song is so much better than the album's title track -- Kill this Love. The clapping sounds progression at the pre-chorus and the breathless post chorus is just perfect. I love how the electronics in this song is just subtle. It is so refreshing to see the girls show off their musicality without compromising their signature heavy dancing.

1. Boombayah

This song is iconic! Released on August 2016, the girl's debut song also became the first Kpop debut music video to surpass 800 million views on YouTube. It's no surprise that this song became a hit. The club ready hiphop mix will surely get everyone dancing. The track is the mother of all Blackpink's signature EDM-infused songs. The heavy drops and rap lines were killers. For me, Boombayah is still the gold standard Blackpink song.
